After tiger, carcass of elephant found in Odisha’s Satkosia

Angul: Here’s another disturbing news came from Satkosia forest for the wildlife lovers today as the carcass of an elephant was found just after the death of a Royal Bengal tiger in the district.

The carcass of an adult jumbo was recovered from Jillinda forest range of Satkosia in the morning.

According to reports, the carcass was spotted by the locals, who later informed the forest department.

The age of the animal is assumed to be four years old. However, the exact reason behind its death is yet to be ascertained.

The forest officials have started an investigation into the death of the elephant.

The cause behind the death of the animal will be ascertained after post-mortem, the department said.

The carcass of the elephant was found just nine days after RBT ‘Mahabir’ was found dead due to ‘infection’ on its neck and ‘multiple organ failure’.

The post-mortem report stated that the big cat had consumed a porcupine as around 8 to 10 quills of the species were recovered from the tiger’s stomach.
