Agitating teachers of Odisha put strike on hold

Bhubaneswar: The agitating teachers under the banner of All Odisha School and College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum today put their strike on hold till July 15 after having a meeting with Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, informed forum’s convenor Prakash Mohanty.

“They put forth a 3-point charter of demands. We assured them to consider their demands and requested to call off the agitation. They agreed to it,” the Chief Secretary said after the meeting.

The forum has given an ultimatum of 2 months to the state government for fulfillment of their demands. The teachers have been requested to cooperate in the evaluation of answer sheets of +2 examination, reports said.

The agitating teachers have been demanding issuance of a notification regarding withdrawal of a compulsory affidavit clause to avail grant-in-aid.
