Ahead of the India-Sri Lanka one-dayer at the Barabati Stadium in Odisha’s Millennium City Cuttack, a belligerent Virat Kohli today lashed out at critics questioning his batting technique.

India team captain Virat kohli address Press meet at barabati stadium cuttack on Saturday, One day international series between India and Srilanka on November 2

“I got 25 hundreds with the same technique, didn’t I? Yyou must have a debate on that as well,” said a combative Kohli during an interaction with the media here today.

“People need something to talk about. But I am not really bothered about it,” he said.

Asked if he was working on his technique, the stand-in captain said he was working on his fitness instead.

“It’s not a nice thing to break down while batting when something has been working for you. Something that I’ve done is to work on my confidence a lot rather than going into technical stuff,’ the star Indian batsman said.

While admitting that he has been working on certain aspects of his game, Kohli said it was more on the mental side. “It is more mental than technical. If you start fiddling with your technique too much, you run the risk of spoiling your game,” he said.

Making no effort to hide his peeve at the questions about his poor show during the England series, the No 3 batsman said; “I don’t know why there is so much of hype about my bad phase. Either they think I don’t deserve to be in the bad phase or they think I have a remote to score runs in every match. I know what all I’ve learnt from that phase. I take everything normally — good or bad performance. It’s just a day in life,” he said.
