Ahead of Snana Purnima, Puri Police releases traffic advisory for devotees
The state government will deploy as many as 60 platoons of police force and 550 home guards in Puri city for smooth conduct of the festival
Puri: With just a day left for Snana Jatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, Puri Police while welcoming all devotees has released a set of guidelines to ensure smooth traffic movement for public convenience.
The traffic advisory, issued in public interest, stated the following rules:
1.)There will be no restriction of regular passenger buses from Bhubaneswar Konark side to enter into regular Municipality bus stand. Buses coming from Bhubaneswar and other areas will be diverted accordingly.
2.) Puri Town shuttle buses and auto rickshaws will be allowed up to Majana Jaga on Badadanda.
3.) Two wheelers will avail parking on Badadanda from Market square up to Nayak Plaza on first come first avail basis and will be diverted accordingly.
4.)All LMV/Cars/SUVs will avail parking facilities at the parking places at Jagannath Ballav, Bagala Dharmasala parking, Saradhabali, Blue flag beach and Hotel Nilachal Ashok. They will be diverted as per availability of space in parking places accordingly.
5.) Regulation of vehicular traffic shall be imposed from 12.00 hrs on June 3 till the end of Snana Purnima on June 4 as per traffic mobility plan. Traffic restrictions may be relaxed depending on traffic flow.
6.) For smooth darshan of the Lords by the deities, no vehicle zone will be ensured from Market Chakka to Jaga Balia lodge.

Meanwhile, the holy city will turn into a fortress for the Snana Jatra. The state government will deploy as many as 60 platoons of police force and 550 home guards in Puri city for smooth conduct of the festival, said Inspector General of Police (IGP), Central Range, Ashish Kumar Singh on Friday.
Singh further informed that three commandants, 100 supervisory officers and 300 Sub-Inspectors/ Assistant Sub-Inspectors will be deployed for proper implantation and execution of the security arrangement in the city.
For the convenience of devotees, the district administration has raised barricades and sheds on the Grand Road in the city.
“It is expected that lakhs of devotees will throng the Holy City to with the Snanapurnima festival and Hati Besa ritual of Lord Jagannath on June 4. The state government and the district administration are making all arrangements for smooth conduct of the festival. Adequate number of security personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order and manage traffic in Puri. The shops along the Grand Road from the Market Square to the palace of Gajapati King will remain closed from June 3 to 5 to avoid rush near the temple,” Puri Collector Samartha Verma had said.
