Ailing elephant dies during treatment in Odisha’s Choudwar

Cuttack: A sick tusker died today, a day after being rescued, while undergoing treatment in Choudwar area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The ailing elephant was rescued from a farmland near Haladi Basanta village under Dalijoda Forest Range yesterday. Locals had spotted the pachyderm lying in the crop field near the village and informed the Forest officials.

A team of veterinary doctors had reached the spot along with the concerned Forest officials and started treatment of the jumbo.

However, the animal, which had developed infection in mouth, succumbed today.
