All religious places closed for devotees in this Odisha district

Koraput: Following rise in COVID-19 cases, the Koraput district administration today imposed restriction on entry of devotees into all religious institutions with effect from 6 PM today.

The administration tightened the restriction further to contain spread of the virus in the district, said the order issued by Collector Abdaal M Akhtar today.

As per the restriction,  no devotees or visitors will be allowed to enter temples, mosques, churches, Gurudwaras and other religious institutions to offer prayers. However, daily rituals at the religious places may be carried out by priests/Iman accompanied by not more than five assistants, the order reads.

The restriction will remain in force till further orders.

The Collector waned that any person/s violating the order will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, Epidemic Disasters Act 1987 and Regulations issued thereunder, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC.

Today, the district reported 113 positive cases.
