Alleging life threat to Odisha gang rape survivor, family lodges FIR

Cuttack: Alleging threat for the life of their daughter, the family members of the Kunduli gang rape survivor, who is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital here, today lodged a police complaint in this regard.

The mother of the minor tribal girl lodged an FIR with Mangalabag police station here alleging the government-run medical is acting on the behest of some powerful people, which she believes it might derail the investigation.

In her complaint, the victim’s mother demanded action should be taken against medical authorities, police and Koraput District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) who according to her are responsible for not letting her daughter discharged from the hospital.

She further alleged that who’s who of the government are trying to suppress the incident by not discharging her from SCB Medical.

Congress leader and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi, who was with the victim’s mother when she went to lodge FIR, demanded immediate discharge of the minor girl, or else, they will stage indefinite protest on medical premises.

The class-IX student was shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital on November 19 after her health condition deteriorated.

According to reports, blood was found in the vomit following which she was immediately rushed to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital for treatment.

Notably, the class-IX student of Kunduli in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by a group of security personnel on October 10 while returning from school.
