Allow public access to Odisha Niwas canteen in Delhi: Dharmendra to Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Apr 26:

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today sought personal intervention of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik into lifting of restriction on access to Odisha Niwas canteen at New Delhi.

“For over 20 lakh Odias living in Delhi-NCR region, Odisha Niwas canteen was the most favorite option to taste authentic Odia delicacies for years. Non-Odia too relished the tasteful Odia dishes and snacks served at the canteen. Unfortunately, the canteen has restricted the entry of public since 2016 and kept the canteen open only for the in-house guests,” Dharmendra wrote in the letter.

The canteen had carved a niche for itself. Given an opportunity, most Odias in the region would feel privileged to visit the canteen to taste authentic Odia dishes, he added.

Citing requests on various social media platforms regarding reopening it for public, Dharmendra urged Patnaik for his “personal intervention” into the matter.

“I take this opportunity to request you for your personal intervention in the matter to open the canteen for common public so that every Odia food lover can cherish it,” he further said.
