Allowances hiked for Odisha fire brigade personnel

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of their indefinite strike, the Odisha government today increased the one month’s extra pay and other allowances of personnel working in the Fire Services Department.

The incentives and allowances in favour of fire service personnel in the rank of fireman, fireman driver, leading fireman, driver havildar and havildar mechanic have been revised, a statement issued by the Home Department said.

The government has renamed one month’s extra pay as Extra Duty Incentive for Fire Service personnel in certain ranks.

Besides, bicycle allowance renamed as mobility allowance has been enhanced from the existing Rs 75 to Rs 150 a month. Similary, the special diet allowance has been enhanced from Rs 700 to Rs 900 a month.

The pay revision will be effective from the date of its issue, the statement read.

It may be recalled here that fire services personnel had announced that they will launch an indefinite strike across Odisha from March 8 over their four-point charter of demands.
