Bhubaneswar, Feb 11

In view of traffic congestion, heavy rush and frequent accidents on Jaydev Bihar-Nandankanan route in Odisha capital, the government is planning alternative roads from the National Highway 5 to Patia and Nandankanan.

The roads will be constructed from CRP Square to Nandankanan via Ekamra Kanan, Acharya Vihar to Patia via Sainik School and the Daya west canal road will be developed.

Chairing a meeting to discuss the proposals yesterday at the state secretariat, Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed the General Administration department, Works department and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to complete a survey for construction and interconnection of these proposed roads.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will prepare the road network project proposal on the basis of the master plan.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government is also planning an elevated corridor on the 14-km Raj Bhavan-Nandankanan route. The survey is underway for the project.

Recently, the government has decided to launch a mobile app to integrate different kinds of services for transit halt, parking, events, bill payment and many more. Under the system, the entire operations in smart city of Bhubaneswar will be online.
