Ama Odisha collected over 52, 000 units of blood in 2014

Ama Odisha, a leading voluntary organization of Odisha, has collected over 52000 units of blood in 2014.

The organization has collected a total of 52452 units of blood from 1021 blood donation camps compared to 52713 units of blood from 1001 camps in 2013.

Leading institutions, who have partnered with Ama Odisha to make the camp a huge success include ITER, Bhubaneswar, Srimad Sarathi Baba Ashram, Kendrapada, VSSUT, Burla and Bhusan Steel Plant, Rengali, Rangiagada Industrial Estate Yuva Vikash Parishad, Paradip, District Headquarters Hospital, Angul, OEC, Bhubaneswar, Sri Ram Abhishek Puja Committee, Pattamundai, Janata Science College, Kodala, Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandia, Tulasipur, Cuttack, Chitala College, Biraja Khetra, Jajpur, Rajgangpur Muncipality, DITI, Padmanav Engineering College, Rourkela, Hi-Tech, BIMTECH, KIC, several government and private organizations and industrial units.

Starting its campaign in 2006, Ama Odisha had collected 9250 units of blood from 181 camps which increased to 515 camps in 2010 with a collection of 27008 units. In 2011, Ama Odisha conducted camps in every single block of Odisha for the first time and collected 48061 units from 802 camps. The record was broken last year with a collection of 52713 units from 1001 camps.

With the collection of more than 52000 units of blood, Ama Odisha has contributed more than 50 percent of the total blood collection in the state for the second year in a row and has been awarded by the state government as the best voluntary organisation in the field of blood donation consecutively for the last eight years.

Ama Odisha chairman Soumya Ranjan Patnaik has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all edition heads of Sambad, district and block correspondents, Kanak TV, Radio Chokolate, SOMAC, KMBB Engineering College, members of Ama Odisha and well wishers and blood donors for their sincere cooperation.

“Ama Odisha has taken up its mission to the remotest areas of the state by covering all 314 blocks including the Maoist affected areas and made blood donation fearless and more acceptable activity for the youth of Odisha,” said its secretary Swaraj Mishra.

To maintain its success, Ama Odisha has planned to take up its programme in every panchayat in the state in 2015.
