Amarnath pilgrim from Odisha dies of heart attack

Bhubaneswar:  A woman pilgrim from Odisha died due to cardiac arrest at Baltal base camp of the Amarnath yatra in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, local police said.

The deceased has been identified as M Radha (67), a resident of Khurda district in the State.

According to Jammu and Kashmir police, the Odia pilgrim suffered a major cardiac arrest at Baltal base camp this morning.

Radha was immediately rushed to a nearby medical camp where she was declared brought dead, the police added.

As per the latest information, the family members of deceased of the pilgrim were on the way to Bhubaneswar with the body.

Earlier in the month, Lakshmi Bhai (54), a resident of Hyderabad and Sanjoy Santra (50) of West Benagl died at Baltal camp in Kashmir. Both had gone to visit Amarnath shrine.

Sources said the death toll in this year’s yatra, which began on 28 June, has now reached to 35.
