American cocker spaniel steals the show at 48th dog show in Odisha capital

An American cocker spaniel owned by Pallav Shah emerged champion at the 48th dog show held by Odisha Kennel Club (OKC) at the Unit I government high school here on Sunday.

The American cocker Spaniel, with its chiselled body and long mane on its ears, legs and stomach, was the clear show stealer and drew the maximum number of onlookers. Many of them clicked photographs or took selfies witb the winning dog.

Tanmay Ghosh’ German Shepherd was adjudged champion for the 47th show, which was held simultaneously on the occasion.

Besides, 14 other dogs also won accolades at the event making their owners proud. People were seen gathering all around an Alaskan Malamute, used for sledging and Siberian husky to click selfies with them.

Starting from the small Chihuahua to the large Great Dane, all the breeds seemed to have their share of fans at the show. Over 250 dogs, many of them belonging to rare, exotic breeds, participated in the event.

Dog owners from various places in India such as Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jamshedpur came with thie dogs and participated in the show with a great deal of enthusiasm.

The breeds on display included German Shepherd,  Labrador, Dalmatian, Boxer, Doberman, American cocker Spaniel, Dalmatian Gutzwiller, Bullmastiff, Golden Retriever, Pug, Bulldog, French bulldog, Siberian husky, Alaskan malamute.

A prize distribution ceremony was also held at the end of the event. Roberto Santos Tesoro of Philippines and CV Sudarshan judged the event. Secretary of Odisha Kennel Club, Subrat Prusty conducted the show along with Shdharth Mohanty, Rabindra Sahu and Predeep Mohanty of OKC.
