Andhra quarry blast: Another Odisha labourer succumbs, toll 5

Bhubaneswar: One more labourer from Odisha today succumbed to injuries in the stone quarry blast in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district which had occurred on August 3.

The deceased, identified as Pandab Lenka of Biti Nuagaon under Rambha police limits in Ganjam district, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Visakhapatnam.

Earlier, four labourers of Odisha– Bhima Nahak of J.Radhagovindpur; Duryodhana Nahak and Manoranjan Nahak of Nuagaon; and Rajendra Nahak of Rambha, all hailing from Ganjam, had died after the mishap.

On the other hand, a labourer from Odisha is still undergoing treatment in Kurnool in critical condition.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the family members of the deceased. The State Government will also bear the treatment expenses of the injured ones.
