Angul hottest in Odisha at 46.7; hottest day in city at 45

Angul wrested the tag of the hottest place in Odisha from Titlagarh, recording a temperature of 46.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The district headquarters town in the coal belt of the state, however, was only marginally ahead of Titlagarh aka Tatalagarh (the hot place), which recorded 45.5 degrees.

Bhubaneswar, the capital city of the state, recorded the season’s highest temperature at 45 degrees.

Temperature also crossed 46 degrees in Sambalpur (46.6), Hirakud (46.4) and Titlagarh (46.5).

Temperature also went up to 40 degrees and above in Baleswar (41.2), Chandbali (43.7), Cuttack (41.8), Baripada (41.6), Jharsuguda (45), Keonjhar (41.8), Sundargarh (45), Talcher (44.7), Bhawanipatna (45.7), Bolangir (45.6), Phulbani (42.2), Malkangiri (42), Sonepur (41.4) and Dhenkanal (43.8).

The local Met office in a release today said the heat wave condition would continue in the state till May 31 though there may be rain or thundershower at one or two places in the coastal districts.
