Annual Plus Two exams begin in Odisha

The annual Plus Two theory examinations began in Odisha today.

plus two examAbout 3,72,000 students of Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational Education streams are appearing in 1092 centres.

The three-hour examination began at 10 AM.

On the first day of the examination, students of Science are appearing for the English paper.

The students entered into the examination halls half-an-hour before the examinations at 9.30 AM while the question papers were opened in the presence of the observers and representatives of the district collectors at 9.45 AM.

“Till now, the examinations have begun as scheduled in the state with no reports of any untoward incident. I have come to the BJB College with my squad and will tour the remaining districts during the examinations. I hope that the examinations would pass off smoothly,” Prof Basudeb Chhatoi, chairman of Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) told reporters here.

To a question on whether he has any information about the timely despatch of question papers from the 203 examination hubs and any student being deprived of appearing the examination, he said the question papers have been sent to the examination centres since last night.

“We have not deprived any student of appearing the examinations. In fact, we had allowed some students to appear the examinations on the basis of the court order yesterday. We have allowed the students who have approached us with the court order. Though it was difficult for us, we have done it on humanitarian grounds.

Asked whether the visit of the CHSE chairman, the Higher Education minister and the department secretary would end on the first day of the examinations, Chhatoi said “Last year, I had visited almost all examination centres in the state. Besides, the department authorities had also toured all the districts. This year, we will also do the same till the examinations are concluded.”
