Another cyclonic circulation may form over Bay of Bengal in second half of October 2022

Bhubaneswar: A fresh cyclonic circulation may form over the Bay of Bengal in the second half of this month, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted.

As per the prediction, the cyclonic circulation may form over the eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea during “week 2” (October 14 to October 20).

The forecasted system may move west-northwestwards with “low” probability (up to 33%) of further intensification.

“There is likelihood of formation of a cyclonic circulation over eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea during week 2 with low probability of it’s further intensification and westnorthwestwards movement,” the IMD said in its North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis.

The outlook further said that there is “low” probability of formation of a cyclonic circulation/ low pressure area over eastcentral Arabian Sea during week 2.

On the other hand, rainfall activity in Odisha is likely to be less today and tomorrow as the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued no warning for the two days.
