Another distressed farmer ends life in Odisha

Jajpur: In a fresh incident of farmer suicide in Odisha, a youth committed suicide due to loan burden and crop loss at Mangarajpur village under Dharmasala block in Jajpur district today.

The deceased has been identified as Gouranga Bal, son of Jayram Bal of the village.

Sources said Gouranga had cultivated paddy crops on around 5 acres of land.His wife had borrowed around Rs 1 lakh loan from two groups while Gouranga had taken private loan of over Rs 1 lakh. However, the crops were damaged for which he was in distress. Today morning, Gouranga, who has two kids, was found hanging from a tree near his house.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
