The incident was brought to the limelight by Kanak TV yesterday.

As reported by the Kanak TV, Aghornath Baba used to dupe people with his innovative style.

The incident came to light after a man of Badakorakara village lodged a complaint with the police.

In his complaint, the victim Gayachand had stated that he was under mental duress after the death of his son who was killed in a road accident recently. To relieve from the mental pressure, he had sought the help of the Baba who collected Rs 10,000 from him and asked him to dig a hole in his house and find inauspicious metal which had caused the death of his son.

Acting on his instruction, Gayachand dug up a hole in his house. But he was let down as no metal was found after digging up nine feet.

The hapless villager later lodged a complaint against the Baba with the Niali police.

“Believing that the Baba has healing powers since people from various areas used to visit him and seek his advice, I had approached him”, he said.

Expressing anger and anguish, Gayachand’s wife said the fraud Baba should be awarded with harshest punishment.

The arrested Baba used to dupe people by taking them to the cremation ground in a bier like dead bodies where he performed fake rituals by making them lie on the ground to drive out evil spirits from their bodies.
