Another farmer attempts suicide in Odisha, hospitalized

There seems to be no respite to farmer suicides in Odisha due to failed crops and loan burdens with another farmer in Sambalpur district allegedly attempting to end his life by consuming poison.

The farmer identified as Siba Majhi of Gayelgudi village under Jujumura block in Sambalpur district today attempted to commit suicide by consuming pesticide depressed over failed crops and remote possibility of repaying loans, reports said.

However, Siba has been rescued and admitted to VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla in critical condition. Doctors are trying to do their best to save his life, reports added.
