Another farmer commits suicide in Odisha

Another debt-ridden farmer commits suicide by hanging himself from a towel in Jharsuguda district in western Odisha.

Farmer Sashi Oram, a resident of Dungiripada in Badabahal village located in  Kolabira block of Jharsuguda district had grown paddy crop in three acres of land. He had taken a loan of Rs 40,000 from Kolabira cooperative society and was under great stress due to repeated crop loss.

“He had taken loan from the cooperative bank and he was keeping unwell.  He was very worried that how will he repay the loan. He hung himself  from a lungi in his veranda and committed suicide”, said his brother.

He had gone to his field yesterday morning and after coming home in afternoon killed himself by hanging from his towel.

The body after post mortem had been handed over to the family today. But not officials have reached the spot leading to anger among the villagers.
