Another low pressure likely next week; heavy rainfall alert for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha may witness above normal rainfall in the month of September as a low pressure is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal next week.

A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North & adjoining Central Bay of Bengal around 6th September, 2021, predicted the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Due to possible low pressure, above normal rainfall activity is expected during September reducing the deficit rainfall that occurred between June and August this year.

Meanwhile, the IMD issued heavy rainfall and thunderstorm alert for several districts of Odisha till September 7 starting from today.

Sept 3: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Nayagarh.

Sept 4: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Sept 5: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada.

Sept 6: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and  Jagatsinghpur.

Sept 7: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur and Balangir.
