Another minor girl delivers baby in Odisha’s Kandhamal, newborn dies

Phulbani: Days after a Class-VIII girl student gave birth to a baby in Daringbadi area of Odisha’s Kandhamal which led to uproar across the state, a similar incident in the same district has come to fore.

According to reports, a girl of Tumudibandha area in Kandhamal district was allegedly impregnated by her boyfriend. After the girl realised that she was pregnant, she gave a proposal to her boyfriend to marry her, but he rejected it.

The boy reportedly gave her some pills yesterday for abortion. After consuming those, her health condition deteriorated and she was then admitted to a local community health centre, where she delivered a baby boy.

The girl and the newborn were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where the baby died.

Police have started investigation into the matter after registering two different cases– one of unnatural death case in connection with the death of the newborn and another case on the basis of statement of the minor girl.
