Another Odisha district bans spitting in public places

Bhadrak: After Ganjam district, the Bhadrak district administration today banned spitting in public places. In an order, Bhadrak Collector Gyana Das stated spitting in public places is prohibited in the district and violators will be levied a fine of up to Rs 500. This order comes into immediate effect.

The penalty amount collected will be deposited in the newly created fund, the order mentioned. The administration has taken the decision to contain spread of COVID-19 and protect public health.

Earlier, the district administration imposed restrictions on individuals on use of two wheelers and four wheelers and penalty was collected for violation of the same. Also, use of mask was made mandatory for people while stepping out of their house.

As per the Odisha COVID-19 regulation, 2020, the Collector has been designated as the empowered officer to take measures for containment of spread of COVID-19.

Couple of days back, the Ganjam district administration prohibited spitting in public places and imposed a fine of Rs 500 on persons violating the ban.
