Another swine flu patient identified in Odisha

The number of swine flu patients in Odisha has gone up to 14 with one more patient tested positive in Ganjam district on Monday.

swine flu virusAccording to reports, a 53-year-old man has been undergoing treatment at the Military Hospital in Gopalpur. However, the doctors, suspecting swine flu symptoms, had sent his swab for test at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Bhubaneswar on Monday which confirmed the presence of virus.

The hospital authorities have not admitted the patient in a special ward.

As informed by Shantanu Kar, director, RMRC, of the seven swabs tested on Monday, one of them has been tested positive.

With this, the total number of swine flu patients in Odisha has gone up to 14 while the death toll remains at four.

However, experts are of the opinion that the number of swine flu patients would be more than the official reports as some private hospitals are reportedly sending the swabs for test to the neighbouring states.
