Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) examination under the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha was conducted in the last week of November last year. The sorry state of affairs of the education department has pushed the future of the students into uncertainty as the results might not be published in the absence of answer-sheets.

The evaluated answer sheet in which 35 marks have been awarded in Group A and B leave no room for doubt that the answer sheets were released into the open market, presumbaly to be sold as raddi, after evaluation.

The question-cum-answer booklet bearing roll number: 1418DDE144 for Hindi examination of a first year student appearing for D.El.Ed – 2014, in possession with OST, was found amid a heap of waste paper littered at a public place here.

Notably, reproducing and spreading the question/answer sheets is an offence under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).

Board officials, on conditions of anonymity, have confirmed that photocopies of answer sheets had escaped from the high-security cells.

After the incident was brought to the notice of the board officials, an inquiry was said to have been instituted. In the meantime, the officials have submitted the report to the higher-ups. However, no action has been taken against the erring staff as of now.

When asked about the developments in the case, the BSE Secretary refsued to divulge the details on the progress in the case saying he cannot tell who all are involved in the incident and against whom action would be taken.

As per reports, around 28, 000 trained teachers and training teachers appeared for the D El Ed examination conducted from November 16-29 last year.

The evaluation of answer sheets began on December 5 and concluded on December 17 last year. The result of the examination is yet to be published.
