Anti-Maoist Ops to be intensified in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: Anti-Maoist operations will be intensified in the cut-off region of Odisha’s Malkangiri district while the focus will remain on the district’s borders with Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

“Our major challenge is the Andhra-Chhattisgarh border. Movement is the main challenge. We want to make more inroads in the cut-off area to do the operations. Then on the Chhattisgarh border, there are security gaps in the Tulsi-Dongri area. We want to further move into Tulsi-Dongri area. Recently, we had a joint training of SOG, COBRA and Odisha police,” informed Border Security Force (BSF) ADG Arun Kumar briefing reporters at a press conference here.

“Accordingly we are planning operations in those particular areas,” he added.

Kumar said currently emphasis is being laid on joint training especially of BSF, COBRA and CRPF.

Union Cabinet’s approval of a proposal for modernization of police will boost the morale of the security personnel, he added.
