For match-fixers like you, there’s no honour only money: Harbhajan Singh hammers down Mohammad Amir

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Following Pakistan’s impressive victory over India in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, social media went gung-ho with memes and banter from both sets of fans.

The banter was not limited to fans, however, as former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and Pakistan pace legend Shoaib Akhtar were fighting their own battle with some friendly but sharp exchanges.

Amidst all this, former Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir decided to get a piece of the action by targeting Harbhajan with a retort.

“hello everyone woh pochna yeah tha @harbhajan_singh paa ji ne TV to ni tora apna koi ni hota hai end of the day its a game of cricket,” wrote Amir on Twitter after Pakistan’s victory.

Replying to Amir, Harbhajan shared a video of him hitting Amir for a last over six to win a game for India with the caption: Ab Tum bi bologe @iamamirofficial yeh 6 ki landing tumhare ghar k tv par to nahi hui thi ?? Koi nahi hota hai end of the day it’s a game of cricket as u rightly said.”

What began as banter, quickly escalated into an ugly slugfest. Amir taunted Harbhajan with a video of him getting hit for four sixes from four balls by Shahid Afridi. Harbhajan, not someone to back down, retorted with the 2010 spot-fixing incident involving Amir.

“Lords mai no ball kaise ho gya tha ?? Kitna liya kisne diya ? Test cricket hai no ball kaise ho sakta hai ? Shame on u and ur other supporters for disgracing this beautiful game,” wrote Harbhajan.

“For people like you @iamamirofficial only Paisa paisa paisa paisa .. na izzat na kuch aur sirf paisa..bataoge nahi apne desh walo ko aur supporters ko k kitna mila tha .. get lost I feel yuk talking to people like you for insulting this game and making people fool with ur acts,” harbhajan tweeted.

The war of words went on for a couple of more tweets before the dust settled on social media.

Pakistan won their second game of the tournament on Tuesday, registering a five-wicket win over New Zealand. Team India will be the next to play the Kiwis on Sunday.
