Arindam to Turn Producer in Next Film

Arindam Roy has wooed the Odia audience with myriad roles—from the stylish lover boy to a macho action hero. And this Kartika Purnima, he will don the hat of a producer in the upcoming movie ‘Kalki’.

He has launched his own production house, Ratna Films and ‘Kalki’ is its first production. Arindam is also the lead actor in the movie with bubbly actor Riya Dey as the female lead. The cast also includes Harihar Mahapatra, Satwik Mishra, Pradyumna Lenka, Papi Santuka, Asit Pati and Saroj Das. Miss Odisha Jyotirmayee has been cast in a pivotal role.

Arindam will be seen juggling multiple characters in this film. “Production houses are so busy making entertainment films to compete with each other’s commercial success. This leaves no room for any experimentation. Unconventional storylines and scripts do not find takers in Ollywood any longer. This is the reason I took up the challenge of being a producer.” The story is loosely based on ‘Kalki’, the tenth and final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who has been predicated to appear in the ‘Kali Yuga’.

The shots will be called by the director, Tapas Sargharia. Music director Bibhuti Bhushan and choreographer Girish Mohanty have been roped in for this suspense thriller. Bharadwaj Panda has written the story, dialogue and screenplay, with cinematography by Rabindra Behera. The story is loosely based on ‘Kalki’, the tenth and final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who has been predicated to appear in the ‘Kali Yuga’.

Earlier slated for a Dussehra release, ‘Kalki’ will now hit the screens on the auspicious Kartika Purnima i.e. November 25. It remains to be seen if Arindam can set the cash registers ringing as a producer as he could as an actor. Fingers crossed!
