Around 70 detained for travelling in truck in Odisha amid lockdown

Jharsuguda: Around 70 persons were today detained by police in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district for allegedly travelling in a truck during the countrywide lockdown for coronavirus outbreak.

They were reportedly heading towards Bihar in the vehicle. Cops intercepted the truck near Gandhi Chhak under Brajarajnagar police limits this evening and detained them.

“We ran out of food and had no work for which we decided to go to the neighbouring state,” they said.

All of them had boarded the truck at Belpahar and Brajarajnagar. Police have registered a case in this connection. Necessary action will be taken as per the direction of the Collector, said Brajarajnagar SDPO Dilip Das.
