Arup Patnaik to coordinate welfare of Odisha workers stranded in Gujarat

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has nominated ‘Odisha-Mo Parivar’ convenor Arup Mohan Patnaik as representative of the State Government to coordinate with the local administration in Gujarat regarding the welfare of the poor workers from Odisha stranded in Surat and other parts of Gujarat due to countrywide lockdown for coronavirus outbreak.

Rakesh Sharma, former ACP, Maharashtra Police, will accompany and assist Patnaik in this work.  Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy has written a letter in this connection to his Gujarat counterpart.

Worth mentioning, many migrant workers of Odisha have requested the State Government to rescue them from various places they are stranded at across the country. The Government has decided to facilitate their accomodation, food and other essential needs with the help of the local administrations of the places.
