Asian Grand Prix 2017: Odisha girl Dutee Chand to lead India

Odisha girl and ace sprinter Dutee Chand will lead 16-member Indian team in three-phase Asian Grand Prix 2017 in China.

The team is scheduled to head to China on Saturday for participating in the sports event.

The first-phase of the competition will be held at Jiaxing on April 24 and the second phase is scheduled at Jinhua on April 27. The third and final phase will be held at Taipei on April 30.

While Dutee and Reena George will represent India at women 100 meter race, sprinter Vidyasagar Siddarajanayaka will lead India at men’s 100m at the event.

Similarly, woman sprinter Tintu Luka (800m) and sprinter Jinson Johnson (400m) has been selected for the event .

Besides, women athletes Neena Varakil (long jump), Jinu Maria (High Jump), Manpreet Kaur (Shot Put) have been selected to participate in the respective games.

Rakesh Babu (Triple Jump), Om Prakash Singh (Shot Put), Neeraj Chopra and Ravinder Singh (javelin) will participate in the competitions.

Coaches — Garry James Calvert, Bibu Mathew, P.T. Usha, Radha Krishnan Nair — will join the event in China.

Indian team:

Women: Dutee Chand and Reena George (100m), Tintu Luka (800m), Neena Varakil (long jump), Jinu Maria (High Jump), Manpreet Kaur (Shot Put).

Men: Vidyasagar Siddarajanayaka (100m), Jinson Johnson (400m), Rakesh Babu (Triple Jump), Om Prakash Singh (Shot Put), Neeraj Chopra and Ravinder Singh (javelin).

Coaches: Garry James Calvert, Bibu Mathew, P.T. Usha, Radha Krishnan Nair.
