Assets worth over Rs 3.39 cr of Chief Electrical Engineer unearthed

Sambalpur: The Odisha Vigilance unearthed assets worth over Rs 3.39 crore being owned by Chief Engineer-cum-Chief Electrical Inspector, Sambalpur, Sunil Kumar Panda so far.

Four teams of the State Vigilance simultaneous searched four places associated with Panda in Sambalpur and Khordha districts on the strength of search warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.

Following allegation of possessing assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, the Vigilance raided the properties of Panda in the two districts.

The Vigilance raided the residential building at Flat no 201, block- A, Green Park Residency, Sambalpur; parental house in Flat no 203, block –A, Green Park Residency, Sambalpur; Flat no H-022 of the Cosmopolis Project at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar; Office chamber at office of Chief Electrical Inspector, Western Zone, Sambalpur.

During house searches so far, the following assets worth have been earthed:

a) One 3BHK Flat no 201, block –A, Green Park Residency Sambalpur, preliminary valuation of which is approximately Rs 64.21 lakh. However, Technical Wing of Odisha Vigilance will carry out detailed assessment of its value which may increase further.

b) Two plots in Ainthapali under Sambalpur town. Undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard.

c) One shop booked in Grand Bazaar, Bhubaneswar the cost for which paid to the owner Rs 1.04 crore.

d) One plot booked with M/s Assotech Builders, the cost for which paid to the owner M/s Assotech Sungrowth, Bhubaneswar – Rs 61.65 lakh

e) Bank deposits worth over Rs 32.04 lakh

f) Insurance deposits worth Rs 19.8 lakh

g) Investment in mutual fund worth over Rs 16.28 lakh

h) One four-wheeler worth over Rs 17.41 lakh and one two-wheeler

i) Household articles, gold ornaments, cash and other movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 15.77 lakh

Official sources at the State Vigilance said unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase. Further searches are underway.
