Keonjhar, Mar 23:

A security guard of an ATM counter of IDBI bank at Joda in Odisha’s Keonjhar district was critically injured late last night in a knife attack by two miscreants, who tried to loot cash from the machine.

The victim, identified as Lambodar Mahanta, was initially admitted to Champua hospital and later shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital as his condition deteriorated.

However, the ATM loot attempt was foiled as Mahanta resisted the robbers from committing the crime.

“Two persons entered into the ATM kiosk and tried to break open the machine. I tried to stop them but they thrashed my head with a sword twice. When I was trying to flee the spot to save my life, they stabbed a knife into my chest,” the security guard said.
