Attack on Pandian’s res: BJYM general secy held by Odisha police

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police today arrested Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) general secretary Rakesh Jena in connection with the attack on official residence of V Karthikeyan Pandian, the private secretary to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, here recently.

Jena will be produced before court today, police sources said. As many as eight persons, including Jena, have been arrested so far over their alleged involvement in the incident.

Over 30 members of BJYM, the youth wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had on February 10 barged into the official residence of Pandian here besides hurling cow dung at the main gate, breaking flower pots, damaging few vehicles parked on the premises and pelting stones.

While four of them were arrested on the very day, three others were arrested later. They were sent to Jharpada special jail here after rejection of their bail pleas by the SDJM court here.
