Attack on Usasi Misra: Odisha cops arrest prime accused Indramani

Bhubaneswar: A day after Ollywood actress Usasi Misra met DGP RP Sharma demanding action against the accused absconding after attacking her on April 22 night, police arrested the prime accused Indramani Sahoo and his son in the case.

Angul police arrested Indramani Sahoo and his son Rujit Kumar Sahoo for assaulting the Eastern Blue Opera actress Usasi following detention.

Besides, two others — Dushmant Sahoo of Balaramprasad village and Sudhansu Sekhar Nayak of Kanihabeda village — were arrested on charges of helping the prime accused and his son to take shelter in a rented house at Nalco Bazaar and encouraging them for absconding following the incident.

The accused were arrested under sections 341/294/323/326/307/427/354(A)/354(B)/506/212/34 of IPC.

Police also seized a Maruti Suzuki car and six mobile phones from their possession.

Indramani is accused of manhandling and physically abusing Usasi while she was on her way to perform Jatra at Derang village on April 22.

Earlier, police had arrested one person identified as Dusmanta Behera, the driver of Indramani Sahu with whom Usasi had an argument before she was assaulted by Indramani and his two sons. The driver was booked under sections 294, 341, 323, 506 and 351(B) of IPC.

Yesterday, a team of Cine Artist Association had met DGP RP Sharma demanding immediate arrest of Indramani and his sons, who were at large following the incident.

Recently, Indramani has filed a counter case against the celebrity for allegedly manhandling him and issuing death threat.

The case was filed at Talcher SDJM court on April 23 alleging Usasi, who brought allegation against Indramani for abusing her and assaulting her while she was driving to Derang on April 22 night.

Usasi took to social media and shared the horrible incident that she faced during Jatra at Derang village in Angul district.

She lodged a complaint at Kaniha police station on April 23 morning alleging Indramani and his two sons of manhandling and physically abusing her in the crowd while she was driving her vehicle. She alleged that the trio assaulted her and tried to molest her publicly.
