Bandh over sub-jail relocation hits normal life in Odisha’s Daspalla

Nayagarh: A 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh in Daspalla of Odisha’s Nayagarh district over relocation of a sub-jail paralysed normal life in the area today.

The Daspalla Kriyanusthan Committee had given the bandh call opposing the State Government’s decision of relocating the Daspalla sub-jail.

While a group of members of the committee staged dharna near the sub-jail, another group blocked NH disrupting vehicular movement on Khordha-Balangir route. Movement of vehicles also came to a grinding halt in Daspalla.

Schools, colleges, shops, business establishments and offices remained closed in view of the bandh. The agitators warned that they will continue the dharna until the decision of sub-jail relocation is revoked.
