Bank loot in Odisha’s Bargarh: Five of family including 3 women arrested

The Bargarh Town police have arrested five persons of a family including three women for their alleged involvement in dacoity from Bhatli branch of Bank of Baroda in Odisha’s Bargarh district, informed DIG Prateek Mohanty at a press conference here today.

The arrested were identified as Sushant Bagarti, Nrupa Bagarti, Mamata Manananda, Banita Bagarti and Bisu Bagarti.

Police have seized Rs 35,72,910 and 2.386 kg gold ornaments from them, Mohanty said.

“A team led by Bargarh SP Jugal Kishore was formed to nab the robbers. Several suspects were interrogated during investigation. An ex-employee of the bank who is currently working in a packaged water company near the bank came under police scanner which led to the arrest of the accused. More than 90 per cent of the robbed amount has been recovered,” he said.

Notably, miscreants had looted Rs 40 lakh from the bank after breaking the strong room on the night of September 19.
