Banks to be closed for 5 days from today; details here

Bhubaneswar: If you have any bank related work, you will have to wait till December 27 as all banks will remain closed for five days starting today.

Two major bank employees’ unions have announced to go on strike on separate days i.e. December 21 and December 26. Hence,all major banks will remain closed for five days from December 21 to 26, except December 24.

The All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has declared to go on a strike on December 21 over wage revision in 11th bipartite settlement. The AIBOC is demanding salary revision as per charter of demands, 5 days week, full mandate for officers up to Scale VII, stopping sales of third party products and scrapping of NPS.

Similarly, the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has given a call for strike on December 26 to protest the Government decision of amalgamation of Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank.

While December 21 is a Friday, December 22 is a holiday for being fourth Saturday, December 23 is Sunday and December 25 is again a holiday for Christmas. And, December 26 is another strike by UFBU. Banks will remain open on December 24.
