Banks to remain closed for five days from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Alert! the banking operations will remain closed across the country for five days starting from tomorrow.

As Mahashivratri will be observed on March 11, the services at branches and offices of all the banks will be suspended tomorrow. After one day gap on March 12, the banks will remain closed for next four days till March 16.

Here’re the dates when the banks will remain closed this week and next week: March 11, March 13, March 14, March 15 and March 16.

There will be no functioning in banks and its branches on March 13 and 14 due to Second Saturday and Sunday. The services are likely to be affected on March 15 and 16 as bank employees’ unions have called for a nationwide strike on these days.

The strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) against the Centre’s proposal to privatise two public sector banks.

Recently, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Union Budget-2021 had announced that two public sector banks will be privatised along with one general insurance company.
