Disposing of a petition filed by Barsa Swony seeking a monthly maintenance of Rs 60,000 for her higher studies and living, Judge Girish Kumar Mishra ordered Rajashree, son of former minister Raghunath Mohanty, to pay the monthly maintenance. The court had completed the hearing on January 6 and had kept the verdict reserved.

“I always had immense faith in the judiciary. I am happy that the court has decided in my favour. It is my first major victory in a long drawn legal battle. Finally, justice has been done. I am sure other pending cases will also come in my favour,” said Barsa Swony.

Rajashree’s lawyer, however, said that the verdict would be challenged in the higher court.

Notably, Barsa Swony had filed a case on September 26, 2013 in the Balasore family court seeking maintenance. The trial, however, was delayed as Rajashree was not accepting the notices sent by the court.

On the other hand, Rajashree had filed for divorce in the same court on March 24 last year; the case was admitted on March 30 last year.

Barsa Swony has also filed a case of domestic violence against Rajashree.
