BCCI working committee meets to discuss Barabati bottle pelting

BCCI working committee under its new president Shashank Manohar meets today in Mumbai to take a call on key issues including the fate of Odisha’s Barabati stadium following the bottle pelting incident.

Notably, some unruly elements in the crowd had thrown bottles onto the cricket ground leading to stalling of the game twice during the T-20 match between India and South Africa in Barabatti.

The incident had lead to criticism from several quarters, led by Gavaskar who had called for a two year ban on international matches in the stadium and deduction in annual subsidy provided to the OCA. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also ordered a probe into the incident.

Odisha Cricket Board (OCA) has already submitted a report to BCCI over the incident. The report will be placed before to committee, which will decide whether Cuttack could host international cricket matches in near future.

Shashank Manohar will also take a call on the suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals IPL teams. Besides, the committee also has India-Pakistan bilateral cricket series in its agenda.
