Beirut blast: Odisha Govt seeks list of flammable materials used & stored in factories

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the recent Beirut blast in Lebanon, Odisha Government has asked all factories to furnish a list and quantity of flammable and explosive materials used, handled and stored in their facilities. 

In a letter, the Directorate of Factories and Boilers instructed Occupiers of all factories to take all possible safety measures to prevent any untoward incident in future. They have also been asked to furnish a report on preparedness to deal with any such emergency.

“In the wake of the massive explosion in a ware house at Beirut city, Lebanon on August that resulted in death of nearly 70 persons and injury to many,  Occupiers of all factories are requested to provide the list and quantity of flammable and explosive materials used, handled and stored in their factories,” the letter reads.

The letter has also been sent to all Zonal Assistant Directors of Factories and Boilers for information and necessary action. They have been instructed to verify the preparedness in factories under their jurisdiction and furnish a report on preventive measures taken by the respective factory managements.
