‘Bharat Bandh’: Educational institutions in Odisha to remain closed on March 26

Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the ‘Bharat Bandh’ (nationwide strike) call given by farmers’ unions on March 26, the Odisha government declared all educational institutions including schools and colleges to remain closed tomorrow.

In a letter to the District Education Officers (DEOs), School and Mass Education Department Principal Secretary Satyabrata Sahu stated in view of the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call, all schools will be closed on March 26.

In a similar move, the Higher Education Department announced colleges and universities functioning under the department will also remain closed keeping in view the nationwide strike call.

The educational institutions under the Skill Development and Technical Education (SD&TE) Department including ITIs, Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges will also remain closed tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Utkal University authorities postponed Plus III fifth semester exam of Arts/Science/Commerce streams scheduled to be held tomorrow keeping in view the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call.

The university authorities further stated the semester exam has been rescheduled on March 30, 2021.

Worth mentioning, farmers’ unions under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has given a call to observe a 12-hour nationwide shutdown from 6 AM on March 26 across the country to mark four months of the farmers’ agitation on Delhi’s borders.
