Bharat Bandh: Know the likely impact on Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Traders and transporters across the country will observe Bharat Bandh on February 26. The Odisha Byabasayee Mahasangha has extended its support to the bandh call.

As many as 20 lakh business establishments in the state are likely to remain closed tomorrow due to the strike. The association has urged businessmen to close shops and markets during bandh.

        Here’re key points about the nationwide strike:

  • Demanding a review of the provisions of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’.
  • The All India Transporters’ Welfare Association (AITWA) also supports the bandh call given by CAIT.
  • The transporters’ association has been demanding abolition of the new E-Way Bill.
  • The transporters also want removal of norms to track vehicles by using FasTag connectivity to E-Invoice.
  • Nearly 40,000 trade associations, representing eight crore traders of the country, have extended support to the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call given by CAIT.
  • Above all, the traders’ and transporters’ associations want uniformity of diesel prices across the country.
