Bhuban bus mishap: Two officials of Odisha Energy dept suspended

Two officials of the Energy department were suspended today in connection with the tragic bus mishap at Bhuban in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on

The officials who have been suspended are Sub-Divisional Officer Ullas Chandra Nath & Junior Engineer Hrushikesh Das, informed Executive Engineer of CESU.

Opposing the dismissal, Odisha State Electricity Corporation Engineers’ Association (OSECEA) has threatened of non-cooperation movement from October 1 if the suspension is not revoked.

Notably, six persons were electrocuted and twenty five critically injured as the bus in which they were travelling came in contact with a low-lying 11 KV electric wire at Sishu Mandir Chhak in Bhuban on September 20.

Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das had asked the Chief Engineer of the department to probe into the matter and ascertain the circumstances under which the accident took place. The minister had said that action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
