Bhubaneswar: 2 days post marriage, woman flees with boyfriend after thrashing husband

Bhubaneswar: A newly-wed woman allegedly fled with her boyfriend after thrashing her husband in Odisha capital. She also took gold ornaments and Rs 1.5 lakh with her from the victim’s house.

The husband of the woman has lodged two separate complaints with Lingaraj and Bharatpur police. Complainant Balaram Sahu, a resident of the capital city, had married the woman of Gobindapur in Pipili area on May 12.

As per the allegations levelled by Balaram, he found his wife talking to her ‘boyfriend’ through a video call in a naked state, a day after the wedding. As he opposed her act, she apologised.

Next day, the woman told her husband to accompany her to the Lingaraj Temple for a puja. As the two reached the shrine, some of her family members and couple of other persons were present there with a four-wheeler.

She asked Balaram to board the vehicle, to which he opposed. The woman then slapped Balaram while her family members thrashed him.

On being informed, Lingaraj police reached the spot and took all of them to the police station. The accused were released by police after questioning. However, the woman later ran away with her lover.

Police have started an investigation into the matter.

On the other hand, Balaram attempted to end his life by hanging himself after the incident. However, he was stopped by his family members.
