Bhubaneswar: 3 dance bars sealed for engaging dancers, violating COVID norm

Bhubaneswar: As many as three dance bars in Odisha capital were sealed, last night for allegedly engaging dancers without permission and violating COVID-19 norms in the city. The action was taken during raids by a joint team of the Excise Department and Twin City Commissionerate Police.

As per reports, the team raided a total of seven bars at various locations in the capital city and found that dancers were engaged illegally at three of them. The bars were also open beyond the stipulated time, violating the COVID-19 guidelines of the state government.

The three bars which have been sealed are Nasha Lounge, Live It Up Restaurant and Ekamra Bar located on Cuttack Road here.

Four other bars raided by the team– Ashok Bar, Selfie Bar, Ajit Bar and Embassy– were issued show-cause notice for functioning after 9.30 PM and violating COVID rules.

Worth mentioning, bars have not been permitted by the state government for dance programmes. However, most of the bars in the city are allegedly violating it by engaging dancers to entertain customers.

Such surprise raids to curb the offences will continue in the city, an official said.
