Bhubaneswar: 7 bouncers arrested for demolishing shops in Nayapalli

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police have arrested as many as seven bouncers over their alleged involvement in demolishing two shops at a location under Nayapalli police limits in Odisha capital.

The accused have been identified as Nakula Makakud, Asish Jena, Dipak Kumar Das, Laxmikanta Das, Rajesh Ku Patra, Pradeep Ku Baliarsingh and Asish Ku Ray. All of them have criminal antecedents.

According to police sources, the accused had on March 24 night razed the shops with bulldozer. A person, who owns a portion of the land on which the shops were constructed, had hired them to carry out the demolition in order to take possession of the land, over which some dispute is going on.

The owners of the two shops had lodged a complaint in this regard with the Nayapalli police, on the basis of which case was lodged and investigation was going on. The complainants had also alleged that the criminals took them hostage when they opposed the demolition.

While further investigation into the offence is underway, efforts are on by police to apprehend others involved in the crime.
