Bhubaneswar Market Building closed for indefinite period after dispute among traders

Bhubaneswar: The Unit-II Market Building in Odisha capital was today closed for indefinite period following a dispute between makeshift shopkeepers and owners of permanent shops.

The decision regarding the closure was taken by the members of the traders’ association.

According to reports, a scuffle erupted between the two groups as several street vendors attempted to set up stalls in the market while the traders’ association members opposed it.

The street vendors allegedly assaulted the association members.

As tension ran high, the Capital police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.

Notably, the street vendors were evicted from the market by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), last Sunday.
